Portfolio/Camilla Alberti

Portfolio  is one of the two exhibition cycles of the program Quotidiana at the Museo di Roma – Palazzo Braschi conceived and produced by La Quadriennale di Roma in collaboration with Roma Culture, Rome’s Superintendency for Cultural Heritage. Its aim is to explore a number of significant trends in 21st-century Italian art.

Once a month, eleven artists under the age of 35 are presented in the exhibition with a single work. Their research is narrated in a portfolio developed by the of the Quadriennale di Roma.

The fourteenth exhibition of Portfolio (20 October – 19 November 2023) is dedicated to Camilla Alberti (Milan, 1994). Her metamorphic creatures take shape from sculptural interventions using discarded materials and organic elements. Through the fluid imitation of animal, vegetable and fungal structures, her works embody a post-human imaginary, whose complexity eludes any attempt at classification. The Adoubement. Ceremony for Extremophile Bodies, Estremofilo 4 (2022) is part of a series of indeterminate, liminal, monstrous beings, as altered by the mounting deterioration of our ecosystem. Alberti’s sculptures show a tendency to incorporate the artificial remains of the ruins of the capitalist world, including found objects and discarded industrial materials, which the artist combines with elements of organic origin. The different materials are discovered in an intimate relationship, giving rise to sprawling, ramified and  interconnected structures that become metaphors for new, non-anthropocentric narratives of coexistence and collaboration between species.

The exhibition venue is the Museo di Roma-Palazzo Braschi (Piazza di San Pantaleo, 10/Piazza Navona, 2). The admission is free without reservation. Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday 10.00 – 19.00
