The inter-university network is an instrument for encouraging research on 21st-century Italian art in the academic sphere. The aim is to promote the writing of doctoral or specialisation theses on themes related to contemporary art in Italy. In order to do so, the Quadriennale provides various support tools, from the linking of university departments to the networking of students for the sharing of bibliographies between related researches.

The task is to implement the creation of historiographic sources useful for the documentation of our artistic present. During the year, the network produces seminars and meetings with students and teachers in order to strengthen the tools for interaction and collaboration among universities, researchers, doctoral students and postgraduate students. The best theses will be published by the Quadriennale.
