Born in Naples in 1984, she lives and works in Naples.
An art historian and curator, Alessandra Troncone is a docent in Art History at the Naples Fine Arts Academy. In 2015, she participated in the Curatorial Program of the Appel Arts Center of Amsterdam and in 2016 she was curator in residence in the Curatorial Program for Research – Eastern Europe. In 2019 she co-curated the 12th edition of the Kaunas Biennial in Lithuania. Her work as a curator shows her specific interest in new art and the establishment of particular relationships between contemporary works of art, historical places, and immaterial heritage. Since 2018 she has been artistic co-director of “Underneath the Arches”, a contemporary arts programme at the Acquedotto Augusteo del Serino archaeological site in Naples, where she curated the site specific projects of Arturo Hernández Alcázar, Hera Büyüktaşçıyan, Adrian Melis, and Jumana Manna. She has also curated exhibitions at Italian and international museums, including the Museo Madre in Naples, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro in Milan, the Fondazione Morra in Naples, and Izolyatsia in Kyiv. In 2022-2024 she has been a member of the curatorial team of the Fondazione La Quadriennale di Roma, under the artistic direction of Gian Maria Tosatti for the projects “Quaderni d’arte italiana”, “Quotidiana”, and “Panorama”. The latter project aims at monitoring the Italian arts scene via studio visits throughout Italy. She has authored numerous articles and essays in magazines, books, catalogues, and encyclopaedic works, and is a correspondent for Flash Art. She has been a member of IKT – International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art since 2018.
