He was active for many years in Amsterdam and from 2012 to 2023 curator of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen of Rotterdam, curator of the exhibition programme of the Fondazione Carriero of Milan, member of the Advisory Board of the Fonds de dotation of the Fondation La Fayette of Paris, and supervisor of the artistic programme of the Fondazione Memmo in Rome. He was editor of \u201cIl Foglio Arte\u201d, a special art section in the newspaper Il Foglio, cultivated a ten-year collaboration with the magazine Artforum, and founded the magazine AGMA in 2010. In 2022 he was curator of the Swiss Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition \u2013 Venice Biennale, <em>The Concert<\/em> by Latifa Echakhch, and in 2021 co-curated the 34th edition of the S\u00e3o Paolo Biennale, <em>Faz escuro mas eu canto<\/em>. Notable exhibitions he has curated include:      <em>Giuseppe Penone. Gesti universali <\/em>, Galleria Borghese, Rome; <em>Leandro Elrich. Oltre la soglia <\/em>, Palazzo Reale, Milan; <em>Steve McQueen. Sunshine State <\/em>, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and IFFR International Film Festival, Rotterdam; <em>Leoncillo &#8211; Fontana. La forma della materia <\/em>, Fondazione Carriero, Milan; <em>Costantin Brancusi, Medardo Rosso, Man Ray. Framing Sculpture <\/em>, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam; <em>Sol LeWitt. Between The Lines <\/em>, curated with Rem Koolhaas, Fondazione Carriero, Milan; <em>Fantasmagoria Callas<\/em>, Museo Teatrale alla Scala, Milan. He has written essays on such artists as Richard Serra, Medardo Rosso, Gelatin, Arcangelo Sassolino, Pino Pascali and the monographs <em>Cindy Sherman<\/em>, published by Electa, and <em>Francesca Woodman<\/em>.
